Mick brings over 25 years of professional audio experience to
Kampo,
coming from Sony Studios NYC, where he was a Senior Tech for 5 years,
and prior to that, nearly 4 years at Howard Schwartz Recording. Mick is
an alumni of Kampo, having worked as a tech here from 1993 to 1996.
Mick's other credentials include live sound mixing and touring
with (Jack) Weisberg
Audio, Chase Park, Rock Hotel, The Waitresses, Robert Gordon, repair
tech at Virgin Electronics, corporate sound and
installation with Information Transmission Systems, club sound
installation with the legendary Richard Long (RLA), staff tech at
Unique
Recording, Sigma Sound, Aurasonic, and he is an authorized
on-site Soundcraft and Amek service tech. Mick has designed and
installed extensive sonic upgrades to Kampo's SSL G+ console in Studio
A. He also has played acoustic and electronic drums with many bands
since the 70's and continues to play drums and write music in addition
to engineering, mastering, and producing. |
| A recent graduate of NYU's Music
Technology department, Jon worked his way up from being an intern at
Kampo in 2006. Leaving briefly to intern at Chung King Studios in
2008, Jon returned to Kampo in 2009 as the booking manager. He
always enjoys his time in the studio whether it be in the live room as
a musician, or the control room as an engineer. He mainly plays
electric bass for the band, Grandfather, along with being a session
musician for major label and independent artists such as Kate Earl,
Duane McLaughlin, Eibol, and many more. You can
also find him doing live sound at Spike Hill Music of Williamsburg and
for the Kampo Bahal Gallery events. |

| Kampo's chief engineer in residence, Greg Thompson, has
been working in and around studios since 1990 and began his
relationship with Kampo in 1994. He has extensive experience
working on high profile albums at major NYC studios, live television,
concert recording, music videos, surround sound productions, and has
amassed an enviable resume, which can be seen at the web link on the
left. Greg's home base is Kampo, where he brings his unique
combination of wisdom and skills to Kampo's recording and mixing
clients. Greg believes sessions shouldn't be irritating or stressful, realizing artists are at their best when they're relaxed in their surroundings. Because of his inside-out knowledge of Kampo's rooms and equipment, his sessions run smoothly no matter the scale. |

Levin, Shaun Lennon and many others. Kenji runs his own production
company, Drum
Music and is available to produce and engineer select projects. He is
also the
unofficial recreational director for all staff members. |

Alan arrived
at Kampo in 1999 after stints at the Knitting Factory
Studio (various albums for the in-house record label), Baby Monster
Studios (Joey Ramone, Spacehog, Nada Surf, Brutal Truth), and NYU's
Music Technology BM program (how to find a good internship and record a
song in less than four hours when nothing works and none of the cables
are labeled). He likes tracking better than editing and at Kampo he's
enjoyed working with engineers/producers like Jay Messina, Patrick
Dillett and Arto Lindsay, as well as engineering records for artists
such as Greg Weeks, The Tim Heidecker Masterpiece and various live
performances for Sessions@AOL. |

Denise Barbarita Engineer denise@kampo.com http://www.myshytune.com |
In the spring
on 1998, Denise decided she wanted more out of life than
the daily 18 hour hip-hop sessions she had grown accustomed to. Looking for a more diverse and eclectic mixture of projects to sink her teeth into, Denise arrived at Kampo Studios, considered it home, and hasn't looked back since. As an assistant engineer, Denise built up an extensive list of credits which include Grammy nominated artists such as Angie Stone, Karin Allyson, The Roots, Herbie Hancock, and Phillip Glass. Over the past several years, she has produced, tracked, and mixed many full-length albums for artists from all across the country. Since she is also a vocal coach, singer/songwriters come to her knowing she can help them create a performance in the vocal booth rather than needing to resort to a lot of fancy editing tricks (which she can also perform). Denise has appeared in many national publications, such as Billboard, and The Underground Beat. She was showcased in the 2003 Winter edition of Women Who Rock magazine. |
