Suzuri

 
The Sumi stick is rubbed on a stone block with a hollow containing some water. This block is called SUZURI. As we rub the Sumi stick against the stone, the end of the stick dissolves into the water and makes black ink. Sumi and Suzuri are essential items for learning Shuji.
